ARTIST BIO

Birdy Harrison is a painter whose art may start out with something realistic from life but becomes abstract with the infusion of something new and emotional. She focuses more on the elements of art themselves such as color, line, shape and texture.

Always fascinated by art and art processes, she had the good fortune to take traditional art classes as a child and then majored in studio art in college. However, the knowledge gained from classical approaches, standard art-making techniques and realism left her unsatisfied. Birdy turned to experimentation and problem-solving, using alternative materials which turned her work toward the abstract. An MA in education allows her to share her knowledge and enthusiasm by teaching art in public schools, art centers and galleries.

Having lived in the countryside of Connecticut, the metropolises of New York and Los Angeles, and the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, she has always been attracted to both cities and nature.

Birdy currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband, 2 kids, labradoodle and parrot. Her work is exhibited and collected nationally.
